Brazil is going to host the 2009
Global Pepper Conference
The
Federative Republic of Brazil will be hosting the 37th Session and related
meetings
of the International Pepper Community on early December 2009 in Belém,
State of Para
as announced by the representative of the Brazilian Ministry of
Agriculture Mr Maçao
Tadano (Director of the Department of Plant Products
Inspection, Ministry of Agriculture),
Mr. Cássio Alves (Agriculture Secretary of
the State of Para), and Mr. Francisco
Marcelino representing the President of
the Brazilian Pepper Exporters & Producers
Association (ABEP), in a meeting held
in Belém recently discussing the preparation
for for this year's Session of IPC.
The meeting was attended by officials/representatives
from
the concerned
government agencies, private sector and the
Brazilian Pepper Exporters &
Producers Association - ABEP.

choosing Pará State for this year's
Global Pepper Conference,taking into account that

Agriculture Secretary briefed on the preparation of Brazil hosting the
37th Session of IPC
the state is the largest Pepper producer in Brazil.
Associated with the
37th Session, a business event will take
place, gathering
producers, importers and exporters of pepper
and other agribusiness related
products and services.
The business event will provide the opportunity for the
participants to meet and
make business.
Brazil, member of IPC since 1981, is
one
of the major pepper producing countries.
The country's share is around 13% of
the world total pepper production, being
the fourth largest pepper producing
country after Vietnam, Indonesia and
India.
Pará state represents more than 85%
of the Brazilian total pepper production.
Other lesser producing states in Brazil
are Espírito Santo, Maranhão and Bahia. Belém was the
venue for the past Session and Meetings of International Pepper
Community and
the last time Belém held the IPC Session was in 2001.

Belem With a population of around
1,500,000 inhabitants, Belem was founded 400 years ago and is
located on the board of Guamá river near to its miuth into the south
channel of the Amazon. It´s the biggest city of the north om Brazil
and is called " the Mangotrees city" do to many mango treeson its streets. Wheather
Tropical and humid.
In December the hights are around 32c and the lows 22c. Usually
rainy in late December
Airport
Val-de-Cans is a Modern Intl
Airport is located 12 km from the downtown. Several daily flights to
main brazilian cities ( São Paulo, Rio and Brasilia).
Average flight from Belem to São Paulo is 3 / 4 hs.
The IPC
Secretariat will provide the details of the 37th Session of IPC in the IPC
website immediately after getting the dates, venue and other information
from the concerned agencies i.e. the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture
and Para State Government
