Pink Pepper season starts in Brazil S. Mateus,May 17th, 2009 Brazilian harvesting of Pink Pepper is predicted to start during next weeks. Sinve 2 years ago some producers of black pepper started to grow pink peppertrees in a very well organized way obtaining an uniform production and a better final quality. A small production of permanently supervised plantation, collection and handling is generating an output of certified organic product also. However there is still a collection in the wild despite prohibition of nature preserve protection actions become sticter in the region. This produce is naturally cheaper but its quality may not be suitable. Since the loss of the importer becomes evident only after he receives the merchandise, all the care is needed prior to purchase. An origin tracking cartificate or declaration may be required to garantee the origin and thus the quality. On the other hand the U$ dollar rate is not helping exporters to offer cheap prices, which are meant at around US$ 12,00 per kg F.O.B Brazil for First Grade Pepper during this initial season.. |
