Mr G K Nair

 

Brazilian Peppertrade Board is proud to announce that as from May 1st, 2009 Mr.G.K. Nair has joined our staff as collaborator and will issue weekly reports on Spices focusing on market behaviours and trends.
Mr. Nair is long time leaving in the commodities environment and his knowledge and experience are well known to all players in this industry from whom he gathered the highets respect for his wise vision and uncompromised information.

A post-graduate in Economics, Mr G K Nair, had covered the Military coup in Fiji for Indian and International news agencies from the Fijian Capital, Suva, during 1986-87 as a freelance journalist.

He wrote extensively on issues covering economic, political, social and ethnic problems of several island nations in the South Pacific for the Agencies. He was then representing United News of India, New Delhi and The Compass News Features, London in the region.

During his tenure in Kuwait as a representative of the Press
Trust of India, New Delhi, the Iraqi invasion of the oil-rich Arab
nation, Kuwait took place. The complete events were covered by him
from Kuwait, Baghdad and the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Prior to moving into the South Pacific, Mr Nair worked in the
Editorial team of the Jerusalem Star published from the Jordanian
capital, Amman, from 1983 – 86.

He joined The Hindu group, while he was working for the Press Trust of India in its Kochi Bureau covering Business/Economics, in 1996 as a Principal Correspondent and continued there till his retirement in April 2009 at the age of 61, as a Senior Assistant Editor.
He has to his credit over two decades of experience in covering Agriculture Business and Commodities markets, especially of the spices and many of his reports on pepper, cloves etc were reproduced by several agencies abroad.

His wife is Mrs Sukumari Gopalakrishnan and their son Mr Aravind Gopal, a research scholar in plant science, is doing his PhD at present on Cashew.
