In the first week of July 2010, IPC did a field survey in main pepper producing areas in Lampung, including North Lampung and East Lampung.
Pepper farms in Lampung were selected for the survey since Lampung is the main source of black pepper in Indonesia. Lampung contributes more than 50% of black pepper produced in Indonesia, while North and East Lampung contribute more than 60% of Lampung black pepper annually
