General Information
The main objectives of the IPC are to
co-ordinate, harmonize and promote the activities of the
pepper industry aiming at advancement and protection of the
interest of the pepper industry in the producing countries
as well as their stakeholders in all parts of the world
through collaboration, encouragement of good practices,
dissemination of unbiased information and provision of
common forum for exchange of information and discussion for
mutual benefit of the producers and consumers
The IPC is regularly conducting its Annual session and other
meetings in the member countries, which has developed into
the most important annual meeting of all stakeholders
involved in the sector.
These Meetings address themselves to issues relating to
techno-economic studies, farming, production and export
promotion.
The different meetings are:
1. Executive Meeting of Heads of Delegations
2. The Peppertech Meeting The purpose of
the meeting is to study, identify and evolve solutions for
problems faced by the pepper industry in the areas of
production, processing, marketing and product development.
The Peppertech Meeting also discusses country papers from
member countries highlighting the various technologies and
practices implemented by the respective member countries in
respect of the theme addressed.
3. The Meeting of Pepper Exporters’ is held
regularly before Session to discuss the pepper economy,
current production situation, domestic consumption, exports,
imports, prices, prospects, problems and other matters
related to the pepper trade.
4. The Pepperexim Meeting a meeting amongst
producers and exporters with importers, traders and grinders
of pepper. The meeting discusses various aspects of pepper
such as supply and demand situation in each producing and
importing country, quality improvements & quality control,
possible use of technology in improving pepper quality and
exchange of information.
5. Meeting of IPC Committee on Quality is
to discuss issues related to quality improvement so as to
enable the Committee to provide recommendation and
information to the Session of IPC on matters such as
standards of quality, methods of testing and other matters
related to the quality of pepper and pepper products to the
governing body of the IPC. It shall help to promote uniform
quality standards, coordinate programs to improve pepper
quality in member countries and interact with other UN
agencies, international organizations and spice trade
associations on matters related to the quality of pepper.
6. Plenary Session
The 38th Annual Session and other meetings of the
International Pepper Community (IPC) is scheduled during
08th –12th November, 2010 at Hotel Taj Gateway Cochin. The
IPC and Spices Board of India jointly organize the programme.
On behalf of the IPC Annual Session and other meetings:
2010, we are delighted to welcome all delegates to the 38th
Session and other meetings of IPC in the City of Cochin.
Spices Board, Government of India will host the conference.
The venue of the event will be at the Hotel Taj Gateway,
Cochin, which is a prestigious venue with ample meeting and
exhibition space and within a walking distance from dozens
of colorful attractions for seeing and shopping.
Kochi or Cochin is popularly referred to as the Queen of the
Arabian Sea. Cochin is located on the west cost of India, in
the beautiful state of Kerala. The city can be regarded as
the commercial and industrial capital of Kerala. The city
extends from latitude 9°58' in the North to longitude 76°17'
in the East. Being situated very close to the sea, Kochi has
a moderate climate, with heavy rains during June–August due
to the southwest monsoon. October – November will be the
northeast monsoon and the temperature will be within 25 – 30
degree Celsius. Winter starts from December and continues
till February. In summer, the temperature rises to a maximum
of 35°C and may drop to 25°C in the winter.
Only Registered delegates will be allowed to attend the
business session and other meetings of the event.
Registration of spouse provides admission to the
entertainment programmes arranged for the delegates and to
the official dinner of the event. They will not be allowed
to attend the conference or any business session. No refund
will be given for Cancellation of registration irrespective
of the reason.
In order to apply for a visa to enter in to India, a
passport valid for six months from date of entry is required
for all applicants. The normal documents required for
applying Indian visa are Application forms, Photographs,
Invitation letter from the Spices Board, Fee etc. However,
you may please contact your nearest Embassy of India for
updated information on what documentation you may require to
enter India. Spices Board of India will provide the
Invitation letter to the delegates registered for the event.
Visa Invitation letter can be obtained from Mr. K
Jagannathan, Assistant Director (Eco), a member of the
Organizing Secretariat. The closing date for visa invitation
request is 30th October, 2010.

Exhibition
In conjunction with the 38th Session and Meetings of IPC, an international
Pepper & Spice Exhibition will be also held throughout the period of the
Conference. The fairs will display pepper and other spices based products
exported / manufactured by the exporters from IPC member countries and others.
The stalls are located in the londs where the lunch for delegates for all the
three days is arranged to have a better exposure and establish contacts with the
delegates.

Advertisement spaces are now available for exporters / importers to be published
at the 2010 Delegates Directory of the 38th Session and Meetings of the IPC to
be held at Hotel Taj Gateway, Marine Drive, Cochin, India from 8th – 12th
November 2010.
The 2010 Delegates Directory will incorporate general information of the Session
and details of all the officials and trade delegates (exporters, extractors,
processors, grinders, importers etc) participating in the upcoming event and
will be made available to all the participants of the 38th Session and Meetings
as well as to spice trade associations globally.
